Snow in March? Really??

Yes...we actually had snow today...lots of snow! If I had to guess, we ended up with at least 5 inches, maybe 6?? It started snowing HUGE flakes around 8:00 this morning and was still snowing when the kids, Mike and I went outside to play in the snow around 5:00. Even though I hated the idea of winter weather just when I finished putting up all of our winter clothes, it was beautiful! The kids were very excited and kept running to the window all morning, just to watch the snow fall. I found myself in awe as I watched the snow come down too.
One of my best memories as a little girl was doing the "Snow Dance" w/my dad whenever
there was a chance for snow. We believed that if we did the "Snow Dance" then snow was surely to come our way. We would also break out the "Snow Dance" if we were just excited about the snow that was already falling. So, keeping w/family tradition, the kids & I had to
do the "Snow Dance" today!

Jacob & I w/our Baseball Snowman!

Kade made a face out of snow on his snowman!

Mckynlee only came outside long enough to take her picture...she didn't like the snow blowing in her face.

It was the perfect snow for snowballs and a building a snowman. Just wet enough to "pack" down nicely! Just as quickly as the snow fell, it has already started melting away. Now our yard is a huge, muddy, sloshy mess! It was nice while it lasted! In my opinion, this is the "perfect snow"! It was fun to watch, just enough and the right kind to play in and then quickly disappears! Hopefully we'll be back to real Springtime tomorrow!

Has It Really Been That Long...

since I've written a post? WOW! Where has the last month and a half gone? I'll try to update you on what's been going on in the Simpson household during these past few weeks.

Let's see...Jacob finished Upward Basketball. That was such an awesome experience! Jacob made several new friends, learned the game of basketball, gained a LOVE of basketball and most importantly, had the opportunity to learn more about Jesus. We can't wait to sign up again next year!

Jacob received the "Enthusiasm" award...how fitting!

We spent most of the month of February sick! Let's just say I'm glad February is over! We ALL had our turn w/the flu except for Mike. Here's the ironic part...the kids and I all had a flu shot, Mike did not. How did we end up w/the flu and Mike avoid it?? Go figure! It wouldn't have been so bad, but we each had our own week of being sick so it seemed to be never ending! Just as one of us starting feeling better, then the next Simpson in line would start running a fever. Needless to say, February was not a very fun month for us!

Now...on to March! March is one of my favorite months. I know once March arrives, Spring Break is just a few weeks down the road and baseball season is just around the corner! I finally can see the light at the end of the "long, cold, being stuck inside winter" tunnel! (Can you tell I'm not a fan of winter??)

I kicked off the month by attending my 2nd New Kids On The Block Concert in 5 months! Yes, you read that right! I went to the New Kids concert @ the BOK Center! I saw them in Kansas City last November and wasn't about to pass up the chance at seeing them again! I was an official "Block Head" during the ages 12-15ish. I was going to marry Jordan Knight! I even practiced writing the letter J in my name like he did when signing his name. I knew everything about the Beantown Boys! I had every poster, t-shirt, doll, button, keychain, pillowcase, you name it, that they sold. I could sing every song word for word. I owned or video taped every music video and concert they produced. I knew their parents names, their birthdays...well you get the picture! They were my Jonas Brothers and I was obsessed with them! (Just ask my parents) I wasn't alone though...my 2 best friends, Chanci & Leanna, were just as obsessed as I! We attended their concert at Skelly Staduim in Tulsa when we were all 14. When we found out they were going to be in KC, we packed up and made a road trip in November for "old times sake". The show was so much fun we were so excited to be back for more in Tulsa! We contemplated buying backstage passes, but talked ourselves out of it when we found out they would cost around $400. (We've since regretted passing up that opportunity) I must say our boys have aged "well" and still have The Right Stuff...ok...now I'm getting cheesy. I reverted back to a 14 year old...after the concert my friends and I waited outside the BOK while the New Kids loaded their tour buses, hoping for a glance. Donnie actually came up the the fence where I was standing and I got to touch his arm! I know...how exciting! For you other NKOTB fans (it's o.k. to admit it!!) here are a couple of pics:

My Boys...still looking good!! :)

Jordan Knight...see why I was going to marry him??
(Love you Mike!)

So after I came down from my New Kids high and re-joined the "real" world, I've been able to enjoy my Spring Break and spend lots of fun time w/the kids outside while taking advantage of the great weather we've been having. Jacob has spent most of his time at Grandma and Grandpa's house while Kade and Mckynlee have been hanging out here w/us. We've spent a lot of time at the park this week. Does Spring Break have to end??

Mckynlee LOVED the BIG slide at the park...the girl has no fear!

Kade is a natural monkey...the boy will climb on anything that is still!

That pretty much brings us up-to-date. Sorry for the delay!

Stay tuned for baseball info: Jacob and Kade both started practice this week. Jacob is playing for the Pirates and Kade's team is The Little Rascals. Be looking for lots of updates and pictures as baseball season swings in to full gear!!
